Organisations that have made the commitment to become HIV Confident complete a programme of work to ensure that their policies and procedures are in line with Equality and Data Protection legislation. They also provide training for their staff to ensure that their knowledge about HIV is up to date and that they know how to tackle and respond to HIV-related stigma, should it occur.
Once an organisation has completed this process of training and policy review, they will be recognised as being HIV Confident and will be able to promote their HIV Confident status using our logo. If you are working for an HIV Confident organisation or accessing their services, you can be confident that the organisation is committed to ensuring that you can do so without fear of stigma or discrimination.
HIV Confident organisations also commit to giving people living with HIV a route to report any HIV stigma or discrimination if it does occur. If stigma or discrimination is reported, HIV Confident organisations have committed to take action and each organisation will have at least one HIV Confident champion who can offer advice to people living with HIV.
